Below, there is a simple guide to the different levels of English used in the course descriptions on this website.
The left hand column show the different levels within the CEFR, or Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, which was formulated to provide a standardisd description of the achievements of European language learners. The next column shows the Cambridge English scale to describe an equivalent level of English language attainment.
The next column to the right shows the equivalent IELTS (International English Language
Testing System) test score, and the column on right-hand side has a simple (subjective) description of what these scores might mean in practice.
CEFR Cambridge IELTS Simple Description
C2 CPE Proficiency 8-9 Perfect English
C1 CAE Advanced 6.5 – 7.5 Excellent English
B2 FCE First Certificate 5.5 – 6.5 Communicate in most situations
B1 PET Preliminary 4.5 – 5 Communicate in a basic way
A2 KET Key Beginner, some knowledge
A1 Complete Beginner
